What to do.....

So we found out we're getting a really nice tax refund back this year and I have so many ideas, as always, on what to spend it on. Gary already has about 1/2 of it spent in his head and told me I could have the other half to do whatever. I am having a really hard time trying to decide, do I just spend it on things that I want/need....like I'm looking at buying a new couch and a new computer to replace the one Gary destroyed or maybe another freezer so I can store more dinners and food. Or do I pay bills and all that boring stuff and end up with very little left over to play with. Every year it seems that I end up doing the 2nd one. I really do need a new couch....we've never had a brand new one....and a new computer would sure make my life a lot easier, Gary's just doesn't cut it for me anymore. I don't know, what do you guys think?

I happen to know someone in the furniture business that would give you a great deal!!! Be smart and pay the bills {especially with the way things are going right now}. But good advice I heard was first pay tithing {which only is a factor if you didn't pay on your gross for last year}, then pay yourself! So maybe take 10% of the refund and put it toward a couch and the rest can go toward debt. Just a thought.

I say to decide on something that will mean the most to you, and bring you the most joy throughout the year. If paying off bills will bring you satisfaction, then do it! If sitting on a new couch using your new computer will... well then, that's the way to go! :)

Niki....you probably won't like my idea. I say pay the bills first, then if there is anything left...buy the puter! The newness wears off of everything, that you think you just GOT TO HAVE. The bills, however...will never wear off your mind. They stick like glue. Thanks for your sweet comments. Love you.

Hey, that's a tough one! It always seems like so much money and then it goes way to fast. Paying the bills will probably be the smartest move but a new couch would be great, as would a new computer. Look around for a great deals on either and then you can possibly do bills and something fun. Good luck!

Hehe! I was wondering what Emma was talking about when she said...'We're getting a new couch on Tuesday!.. HA!

We personally put all of our refund in the bank... FAR away from our checking. I told myself, If we can someway get through this crappy economy / Job crisis without dipping into our savings.. then we will splurge! It gives me a goal to tighten our budget and make it work!

You need to do what feels right for Nikki & Gary. If it doesn't quite feel right to buy something new right now DON'T. If you feel secure and comfortable it's ok to splurge a little bit! It helps reward us for all the glum of bills & life!

Hey! I am pretty boring too, and I have to agree with everyone else. I would either save it or pay bills just because the economy is so horrid. But, again, like everyone else, do what you feel is right. Unfortunately, most of our is going towards RJ's helmet therapy this year :(...not too fun, but necessary. I hope to see you tomorrow night!

IT SUCKS TO BE AN ADULT SOMETIME!!! I payed bills with the VERY little that we got back, but I am really glad that they are out of the way! Good Luck with deciding though! What does Gary have 1/2 spent on...himself of bills??? That could change my mind a little! :)

Gary is paying for his tires, replacing the mirrors and tailight on his silver pickup and getting a rebuilt transmission for his red pickup so it will run again.
